Cosplay can be overwhelming with all the tools and then some require software too. If you want to prepare for buying a new machine, I’d recommend trying the software first! And to help you with that, I made a list of the software I use with my cosplay hardware.
Brother ScannCut SDX1250
- Canvas Workspace (free) to make the actual files in
- Photoshop, to prepare images. Any similar software will do.
Brother Inno-vis 750 e
- PE Design 10, to make the files in. I really wish I had PE design 11, but for a hobbyist, that is simply too steep. I was presented with a free copy of PE Design 10 by friends many years ago, but I really want to upgrade. Brother, if you see this, I’d love to make you a series of video’s/tutorials about embroidery machines and the ScannCut series for cosplayers in exchange for this software!
- Photoshop, to prepare images. Any similar software will do.
Bambu A1
- Joke’s on you, I can’t 3D model due to my lack of depth perception.
- Makerworld is a decent slicer imo and has some programs that help you make coins/keychains. I can use those and that’s it.
So that’s software to go with the hardware I have. But I also use other programs for making cosplay skits.
- Photoshop: to sketch out ideas
- Audacity: recording my voicelines
- Audition: editing the audio for skits
- DaVinci Resolve: video editing for skits
- Philips Hue: to make a light plan
I hope this inspires you with creating your cosplays. Be creative!
Keep on crafting!
