Hi everyone,
And that was Animecon 2026! My first (and possibly only) 3-day convention this year. I’m unsure about my planning for this year still, mainly due to planned normal life stuff that is getting rapidly more expensive. 🙁 Let’s get to the main bit, my review of the event:
Friday
I arrived pretty early together with Fhant, because we agreed to help with the setting up of the photo studio. So we were at the location at about 10:30 and immediately got to work. (Which I personally love. Keep me busy <3.) We said hi to the few people who were already there, asked for instructions and got moving. 🙂 I have to admit that I lost track of time before opening and didn’t get to wear Maid Fern. Whoops. 🙁
But I did get to help Artsycoscaptures and I think she cooked! It was a lot of fun teaming up with her to make the cosplayers shine. <3 We went hard and I really think it showed. After our shift, Fhant and I went straight to the hotel to check-in and eat a bite. Which was much needed, since we skipped a decent lunch.
Saturday
This day, I had two shifts ahead of me: morning and evening. Luckily, I am an early morning person. 🙂 I started with a good breakfast (coffee, smoothie, bread with salmon and a bit of English breakfast) to last me a long time. Which really was a good move. Lunchbreak was around 14:00 and I only had small snacks till then, cause it was so busy and I wanted to help EVERYONE. I have no self-control in this aspect. Also, Elianzi, Mene, MissWaffles and her bf all came by this morning and I couldn’t have a proper talk. 🙁 I’m so sorry, y’all!
But man, I did enjoy this busy schedule? It was SO much fun. In my lunch break, Fhant and I got ourselves a boba tea and walked around the dealer room. We tried really hard to not buy anything yet. And I failed. I found a figurine of Fern in her winter outfit and that’s one I was missing compared to my cosplays.
When we looked at our phones and saw the time, we rushed back to Pixel Ronin Studio, as it was almost time for the evening shift. <3 A few more hours of insane fun posing (with) people. After the evening shift, I ran to the weft workshop by Twig cosplay to gain some confidence in wig styling skills. At 21:00 I went back to the hotel and uh, decided that I would need some food before going to sleep. Cut to me and Fhant eating McDonald’s in the hotel parking lot and laughing our butts off at the weirdness of it. (Definetly not the worst convention dinner I’ve had. <333)
Sunday
Oh jeez, this convention has a third day and another morning shift! Sadly, Fhant and I struggled to fall asleep Saturday night, so we didn’t wake up early enough to do the big breakfast thing again. We did have a good breakfast and shower before checking out of the hotel and heading towards the Broodfabriek one more time. This time, we were the first to arrive, so we just cleaned up a little, re-arranged the area to look like it did on Saturday morning etc. We didn’t have to wait long before the rest of the crew arrived, so getting all ready for the last day was easy. <3 The energy was still high, and I had a blast this day too! I didn’t help with the clean-up, because I really wanted to go home to feed and pet my cat. I just love her too much and I would have to inconvenience my parents (which I hate to do).
