For a long time, I wanted to do a photoshoot at an unique location. But as I can be quite picky, I had trouble finding a location that I thought looked good and was safe/legal/accessible/etc. After thinking for a while, I remembered a castle ruin in the Netherlands. I know I have been there years ago, for a group photoshoot too, but due to various circumstances, I did not remember much about the location.
Luckily, I found their website and I saw they still allowed cosplay shoots and had their prices listed up front! I thought about going there for a solo shoot for a few seconds, but I quickly decided that it would be more fun if I invited some people and have a nice day outside. So I gathered some friends, we split the costs, drove to the location and had fun! We were so lucky with the weather and everyone was so nice and helpful, it was a fun photoshoot!
This location looked like a perfect match for my Velkhana armor, so I brought that one. I did consider other cosplays, but as this was an exploration, I did not want to bring multiple costumes yet. We had smoke, flashes, good vibes… It was pretty cool to me. 🙂
I just loved hanging around with friends, working on fun stuff. And I am excited about seeing the results! The previews looked really good! (And it kinda hurts that I have nothing to share yet…) I feel like some of those pictures can be great for new business cards and headers.
Maybe I will organize something like this again. I am not yet sure about that, but who knows? It was fun, the results were worth it and it was pleasant all around. The biggest uncertain factor is how much time I will have to do this again. But I am positive about it!
