I rarely cosplay things of I haven’t interacted with the source material.
This one is a different case. A friend designed this character for me, thus it is special to me. <3 It was a very fun build with all the experience I have gained before. Just kinda relaxing, really and focusing on using techniques right. It was also a good project to get used to the plotter I recently got and to bust out the airbrush once again. Even though this costume was a match in skill level, the amount of details made sure it still took a while before it was finished. But that’s what I know and love about Final Fantasy: detailed outfits.
To make it a little more challenging, I decided to 3D print a staff. Sadly, my new printer decided to hate me almost upon arrival. (Broken part in AMS. Immediate issue.) Some friends came to my rescue and helped me print this massive file from Dangerous Ladies. The assembly was more difficult than expected. There were two main issues: the vine part lacked proper overlap for a sturdy connection between parts and the staff”head” was kind of bulky with a printed connection that snapped. I have reinforced the vine with some iron wire glued to it and then staff”head” connection has been drilled out and replaced with some aluminium rod. The spikes snapped off quite early in the process and I decided to go with magnets for their new attachments. All these changes cost me a lot of time, so I had only a week to paint it. The staff”head” didn’t survive the photoshoot. So I decided to make a different staff.
