Abunai!con was a weekend ago, so it is time to make a post to look back! I arrived on Thursday, so I could help out on Friday with decorations, setting the scene and being briefed for the LARP events. The LARP had a University setting and the idea was that the dean wasn’t the best for the University, so everyone was rebelling. I decided to be a potion class student and help out the teacher. All while being rowdy and making posters to stir up the school against the dean. I got to make irl memes basically, which was pretty neat!

On Saturday, my character had transformed due to a potion. So a different look was going on. Players caught it, asked about the story and gave me and other NPC’s ways to expand the storylines. Some big things happened, quests started changing, more people rallied against the dean. It was an amazing roleplay day!

Sunday was the last day and due to budget cuts (ahem, my costume hadn’t arrived yet), I went as a poor student that day. It was great to roleplay some more, see the story end and create a bit of chaos.

Next to my duties as a Theme volunteer, I did manage to visit the Artist Alley and Dealer Room. Found some Shenhe stuff and got some Zhongli stuff for my Genshin buddy/handler. I also found time to attend a workshop about Arduino and LEDs and a lecture about 3D printing, laser cutting and other bigger cosplay tools. While the workshop was really scratching that “I wanna make something” itch, the lecture made me feel like less of an idiot about safety and my concerns about getting a 3D printer or laser cutter at home. (Safety is serious stuff! My full-time job might be just an office job, but my dad works with big machines and he taught me to not fuck around with them.)

While the review of the con is pretty short, I did really enjoy myself. It was great to be out and about, hanging with new people and I am considering doing it again next year!

Keep on crafting!
