Upcoming Sunday (11-6) I will be at Animecon 2023 in Rijswijk. It’s the only day I will be there and I will be there alone, so it’s gonna be a bit hectic. But please say hi if you see me! If I have time for a chat, I will, but otherwise I will just wave. 🙂
Because I am participating in a competition, I will have to be there early and get dressed in my Velkhana armor. Luckily, I managed to arrange help with that! I will try to drive to Animecon as prepared as I can be, so it is “just” the outfit for them to help me with. Everything is packed in easy boxes for transport, except for the wig and props. And because I wanted to have a bit of fun, I bought the last Velkhana t-shirt available at a game store. So I can be cool while driving there. (Yeah, that’s a terrible pun. Blame the nerves.)
So Sunday will be early travel and the rehearsal at 9:30 is my deadline of having to be there. Judging is at 12:35, so I hope to grab a boba tea before that! The show starts at 14:00 and I am starting number 7, so I guess I will be on stage around 14:30. The ending ceremony starts at 18:00, so I can only leave after that and be home LATE. (My poor colleagues will have to help me through Monday. Having a full-time job is really neat and cosplay just clashes with it sometimes. That’s why it is a hobby!)
Also, I wanna manage some expectations: I do not expect to win. Yes, entering a competition gives a chance to win, but I have seen the awesome looks of some selected finalists and I do not feel like I fit in there. And that’s okay! I have a few I wanna cheer for, so I don’t mind just entering prelims and hanging with other contestants who I haven’t seen in a while.
I sadly don’t have anything else to share in this convention post, as I am only going one day for one competition.
