Hi everyone!

Back from Gameforce and I had a good time. 🙂 It was very nice to join my first stage competition of the year and see new and familiar faces. I knew my skit wasn’t the best, but because I learned so many things software-wise, I am sure I can make something way better next time. This skit was a good way of forcing myself to actively learn Davinci Resolve, Blender and Cura in a relatively short period of time. My laptop hates me now, but I need to replace it anyway. 😛Fern's winter outfit from Sousou no Frieren

Wearing Fern’s winter outfit was quite hot, even though it was around 10 degrees Celsius outside. Kinda hoped it would have been colder, so the outfit wouldn’t stress me out, but oh well. The cosplay survived the con in tip-top shape: just had to wash it, because no one wants a stinky cosplay(er). The bootcovers also held up the entire event and I am so happy about that. Means I finally found a method that works for me, after three attempts. Now I just want to try using insoles in the boots to prevent my feet from hurting and switch from a metal hair comb in the wig to a hairclip. Apart from those tiny upgrades, I gotta say that I am really happy with how this cosplay came together and how comfortable it is. I might wear it to the upcoming photoshoot in a few weeks, because it’s so easy to wear and keep up.

Also, remember me being positive about the information being given to the cosplayers before the competition? The same quality was kept up during the con. I hope that it still can be said after a few weeks/ a month too, because we’re supposed to get a video and some pictures back. (I am still missing pictures from Animecon Classic in 2022.) But this competition was well-organised and I can recommend joining it. Also, everyone was really nice backstage and even though we all were getting tired, we all involved as many people as we could in our talks and assumed the perfectly Dutch formation “Kringverjaardag”. We grabbed chairs, sat them in a circle and made sure everyone could talk to anyone. And if you went non-verbal for a bit? No problem, it’s overwhelming in cosplay, just relax for a couple of minutes.

The only thing that I would love to be better (but I know that this is impossible in this location) is the audio. It was very hard to hear your skit audio, which made me miss a few cues. That’s just what happens when the main stage is in one big room with vendors too. Sadly, they played the wrong video with my skit too, and the right one had a few improvements. I’m sure that impacted my score, but it is okay. My job wouldn’t be very happy with me taking days off in Christmas season anyway. 😉

Keep on crafting!
