Hi everyone,
It’s almost time for Animecon, which is likely the biggest convention I will attend this year. I’m ready to get hyped up and nervous, as I am participating in the Animecon group cosplay competition together with Elianzi. This is also one of the few conventions I am attending for multiple days this year, so that’s why it gets a preparation post. 
I will be staying at a hotel a few minutes away by car. Fhant wanted a luxury room and this hotel offered rooms with baths. (We don’t want to be stinky weebs… And I have a Lush bath bomb that I really, really wanna use!) There is also a breakfast buffet, so it is time to eat properly before walking all day the entire weekend. It is gonna be a luxury convention for us! Really looking forward to that and a weekend full of silliness.
On Friday, I would like to attend a workshop or lecture, have the tech rehearsal, meet some friends (give them some gifts I made them) and visit the dealer room. Because on Saturday, I will be locked backstage for the Animecon Group Cosplay Competition. I don’t expect to have much time to enjoy the con then, so I’m not really making plans. And on Sunday? Loading everything in the car, buy some snacks, say hi to people and just a no pressure day before going home. I’m no longer stuffing my days with activities. Just wanna take it easy.
The duo/group competition is a category I haven’t participated in often. I had made plans with others many times, but sadly that always fell through. Elianzi and I had a lot of fun coming up with the story and making everything needed to get our skit on stage. We know we won’t win as we are both hobbyists in this scene and have day jobs that don’t have anything to do with cosplay. That is unlike quite a few cosplayers who often participate in competitions, so we don’t want to get our hopes up for nothing. I did find that this mindset did lift a bit of the nerves, so I actually enjoyed the process more and gave me more focus on the important things. Weird how that worked. It is also those thoughts that inspired us from the start to not enter a preliminairy cosplay competition. Just group competition and vibes. <3
We hope that you will come to see our skit! It has been slowly worked on for over a year and we would like to show our joy to as many people as we can. <3 It is silly, it has action, it has a lot going on (not too much) and I think it is well worth your time. Especially if you like Frieren!
Due to the competition and the amount of stuff I need to bring for that, I will bring Fern (default outfit) – Sousou no Frieren and maybe Star Guardian Seraphine and/or Fern dance dress. Bringing everything for the competition is more important than having three days with fun outfits. I will try to have Fhant bring Qual. I think that’d be cute. Maybe I have a weird sense of cute…
During this convention I won’t be hosting any workshops, but feel free to ask me questions regarding cosplay, photoshoots, etc.! You now know what I might be wearing, so feel free to look for me and have a chat. And IF I get used to my new tool, I MIGHT have some stuff to hand out. Please don’t swamp me for free gifts, cause I will only have this tool for a week or something before Animecon. I am excited about it nonetheless and will tell more later.
